Surveyor 3 on the surface of the Moon

Surveyor 3, a lunar landing probe, landed on the Moon in April, 1967. Apollo 12 landed within 600 feet of the probe in November, 1969, completing a mission objective of targeting a precise landing location. The Apollo 12 lunar module can be seen in the background in this mission photograph.
